Last year, about this time, I walked into a trim shop on 39th street in NY, looking for trim for a sheer silk kaftan I was making. As I was talking to the shop owner, a woman joined us and offered her expert advice. As I was just launching MODERN MANBO in NY, I was just starting out. Our conversation veered to fashion and the challenges of launching your own brand. She mentioned that she had been helping people do just that for many years...That woman was Maria Barazza, director and owner of the Brooklyn Fashion Incubator. I joined the program and never looked back. The learning curve has been steep but Maria and Raphael helped me navigate year 1 with the steady hands of experienced sailors!
I am so happy to have been invited to showcase what Modern Manbo has become over this past year, partially thanks to BFI's sound advice!
